The Indiana Minority Mental Health Professional Association was
formally incorporated in 1999 by:

Shelvy Haywood Keglar, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist and President
of Midwest Psychological Center Inc.

William Lawson, MD, Chief of Psychiatry at Veterans Hospital
Indianapolis and Professor of Psychiatry at Indiana University

Anita Hardin, RN, MSN, Director of Psychiatric Services at
Community Hospital of Indianapolis

The professional association was an outgrowth of earlier efforts by
Dr. Keglar in 1980 to form a coalition consisting of the presidents of:

The Association of Black Psychologists
Blacks in Criminal Justice
Black Nurses
Black Social Workers

The professional organization is a nonprofit organization in Indiana
and has an application pending for 501-c-3 status from the Internal
Revenue Service.  The professional association is a
multidisciplinary organization covering the entire state of Indiana.  It
represents the disciplines of psychology, social work, nursing,
psychiatry, mental health counseling, addiction counseling,
pastoral counseling and marriage and family counseling.  Lay
members and support staff are also welcomed to participate.  The
only requirement for membership is an interest in the delivery of
mental health services to minorities.
